Born in St. Augustine, Florida, Dr. Jonathan Dotson has become a valued ambassador for the classical guitar. His performance history spans the globe, and he performs regularly as a classical musician and chamber musician. He is an innovative and fearless musician who has been dazzling audiences for over 30 years.

Dr. Dotson has also been a full-time guitar instructor since 1994. During his 28 year professional teaching career, students of Dr. Dotson have gone on to win international guitar competitions and receive scholarships to graduate programs at top-tier music programs such as the University of North Texas, Texas State University, Columbus State University, Florida State University, the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, and University of Texas- San Antonio. He has also been a guest clinician and adjudicator in many international guitar festivals, competitions, and learning institutions. Dr. Dotson's greatest passion is teaching and seeing his students succeed.

Dr. Dotson holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he received many scholarships  and awards. He has also claimed numerous top prizes in major international competitions including Boston GuitarFest, Appalachian State University Guitar Competition, and University of Texas at Dallas International Guitar Competition.

He has served on the music faculty at the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley, The University of Texas at Brownsville, and Texas Southmost College.
